Process Log 3

Very very busy, of course, around the holidays.  And with the PBR Art Contest at it's close, I finally have time between other paintings to post a new log.  I wanted to show a process for my entry into the contest so here I have the original source image I used as a reference, and the progressive painting that follows:

I decided on oil paints on a 30x30 wood panel.  This piece will be for sale soon.

I did realize once I was finished that, technically, the can should be reversed...but whatever.  I was crunched for time, and it simply looks better that way.  who needs realism that badly.  It's also hard to see in this final pic the text which brings the piece together.  I have yet to borrow a nice camera in order to take a proper portfolio and sale picture of this painting.  The text reads as follows:

Hal, I'm taking the last PBR.

I can't let you do that, Dave.

Oddly, I hadn't realized how many people have not seen 2001: A Space Odyssey until during and after the contest.  I seriously thought it was a movie everyone had seen.  even people from my parents generation had no idea what this painting was about, and always the reaction was "oh, I never saw that movie."

sigh...

On to the next project!

Check out the store!  There is some new stuff for sale!
